What I offer

I am a member of BACP and adher to it’s professional and ethical frameworks. I have a Dip HE in counselling qualification.

As an integrative counsellor my approach to counselling a client depends on their needs and preferences. I will discuss this in the initial assessment, but if the client is unsure I find that, as the therapeutic relationship grows, so does my understanding of what approaches and interventions will work or be helpful to the client. I offer;

Person Centred Counselling – What is person-centred counselling? | Types of therapy (bacp.co.uk)

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy – What is cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT)? | Types of therapy (bacp.co.uk)

Psychodynamic Counselling – Psychodynamic therapy | Types of therapy (bacp.co.uk)

I also provide Couple Counselling

I have found that many clients also respond well to the use of more visual and creative interventions. I often use stones, soft toys, sand, photographs, drawings etc as aids to the counselling process. Some of the most powerful work can come from these interventions.

For the past 8 years I have been working and supporting clients with drug and alcohol addiction and walking alongside them on their journey of recovery. What I have discovered is the most difficult issue for these clients is not their physical addiction, but dealing with emotional pain from past abuse and trauma, and the negative and destructive beliefs, thoughts and attitudes that have derived from this.
